When you visit Brightwater Vineyards you will be met either by owners Gary and Valley Neale or winemaker Tony Southgate. All three are hugely enthusiastic – both about their own wines and the Nelson region as a whole – and their enthusiasm is infectious. The cellar door has large windows providing views into the winery and barrel room, allowing you to get a little bit closer to the action.
Things To Know
Brightwater Vineyards produces most of the varieties Nelson is renowned for, including sauvignon blanc, riesling, pinot gris, chardonnay and, in the red line, pinot noir and merlot. Brightwater has won numerous Nelson cellar door competitions and was also awarded the title of 2012 Nelson Supreme Business of the Year.
The chardonnay has garnered a clutch of awards in recent years, making it a must-try.
Wine-infused chocolate truffles are available to buy, and you can also admire and purchase a range of photographs by David Beckingham.
