Pask

Setting
Not far from Pask’s famous Gimblett Gravels vineyards sits their winery and cellar door on a busy section of the Omahu Rd industrial district. But as soon as you turn into the rose-lined gateway and go on through the heavy wooden doors, you’re cocooned inside a cosy, quiet tasting space.

Things to know
Kate Radburnd is a renowned winemaker and her environmental work has meant Pask has been a leader in sustainability in New Zealand. Everything is done on site here – winemaking, bottling, labelling and wine tasting – and kids, bikes and dogs are most welcome. While there’s no food on site, visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, lock in for a few hours and watch the world go by. Pask is a long-time sponsor of the annual Great Long Late Lunch where up to 800 guests sit down together to enjoy the best food and wine of the region.

Our picks

Plus
Just a few hundred metres from the cellar door is the awe-inspiring Oak Avenue, an historic oak- and elm-lined section of Ormond Rd. The enormous, ancient trees form a natural cathedral – watch out for weekend weddings!
