Things to know
Originally established by Barry and Jenny Johns back in 1994, this iconic local property was taken over by Ross Trowsdale and Clare Bisso of Dancing Water and Floating Mountain fame in 2013. “We had been purchasing fruit from the Johns for a while and we decided we’d like to have more control over viticulture and fruit supply so we took the leap and we’re loving it,” says Ross. This means you can taste both the Fiddler’s Green portfolio, and Dancing Water and Floating Mountain wines here – Trowsdale and Bisso are now the winemakers behind all three labels.

Our picks
Make sure you taste the Dancing Water Organic Tier Garden Scheurebe, the only example of this variety made in New Zealand, as well as the Floating Mountain Vin Gris – “it’s like bubbles without the bubbles,” says Ross. The Fiddler’s Green Sauvignon Blanc is floral, friendly and long on flavour.
