Kaimira Wines

Setting
Once you leave the road and drive through the spectacular gates, you enter the organic world of Kaimira Wines. One of the first things you will notice is the large nude sculpture lying languidly on the front lawn, wearing just a bunch of grapes. The owners’ love and appreciation for art is clear here and the large cellar door, which looks out towards Stoke and Brightwater, is home to a variety of art exhibitions during the summer.

Things To Know
Owners Ian Miller and June Hamilton produce two ranges of wine – Kaimira Estate and Brightside. Many of the classic Nelson varieties are represented, including riesling, sauvignon blanc and gewurztraminer, but Kaimira is also committed to producing lesser-known varieties. You may try a white – muscat or albarino – or the red petit verdot. Since 2013 all the wines have been certified organic.

Our Pick
The Kaimira Estate Brightwater Chardonnay is rich and creamy with a pleasant texture.
