Once you’ve entered Cloudy Bay’s grounds you’re surrounded by spacious lawns and towering eucalyptus trees, while the simple concrete-block buildings of the winery and cellar door are draped in ivy. Inside, the tasting bench is directly in front of the barrel room, allowing visitors a glimpse of the goings-on in a hugely successful working winery.Relax in the Marlborough sunshine in the outdoor wine lounge – there are numerous comfy couches as well as a hanging egg chair. It’s the perfect spot to take in the stunning views of the Richmond Ranges, which inspired the image on Cloudy Bay’s renowned wine label. You can enjoy the classic combination of seafood and sauvignon blanc at Jack’s Raw Bar over the summer months or light bites throughout the year, Plus you’re welcome to bring a picnic.
Things To Know
Established in 1985 by Australian David Hohnen, Cloudy Bay quickly became one of the most famous Marlborough wineries, renowned initially for its sauvignon blanc. They also produce chardonnay, pinot noir, both a late-harvest and a dry riesling, a barrel-fermented sauvignon and the sparkling Pelorus, a methode traditionnelle.
