Forrest Wines

Setting
Meander along the winding driveway, through the vines, over bridges and past marble sculptures until you emerge into a grassy area featuring a range of outdoor activities. Welcome to Forrest Estate’s cellar door, a beautifully crafted building featuring river stones and lots of timber. With a massive stone fireplace inside, this is the perfect spot to head to when the weather takes a turn for the worse. However, it’s also a great place to visit when the weather’s being kind – there’s plenty of space outdoors for kids to run around, and you can purchase light bites from the cellar door to enjoy at the picnic tables.

Things To Know
This label is owned by two doctors – John is a former international researcher and Brigid worked as a GP – hence the name of The Doctors’ range, which includes one of the country’s first lower-alcohol rieslings. John has also been experimenting with a number of lesser-known varieties, such as grüner veltliner, arneis, chenin blanc and St Laurent, with some outstanding results. Taste the wines then buy a bottle and a cheese platter and relax. Our Picks The grüner veltliner is Setting the benchmark for this variety in Marlborough. Forrest has become known for its excellent rieslings, so make sure to try at least one.
