Setting
Just a few minutes from Kerikeri on the main road you’ll find this new addition to the vibrant Northland region. Owners Kathy Voice and Gary Williams moved here in 2007 and set up a vineyard and bed and breakfast on their property. They have just released their fifth vintage. Surrounded by established trees and tropical palms, the cosy shed that acts as a cellar door is cool and welcoming.
Things to know
This may be the smallest vineyard in the country, with only 255 pinot gris vines planted, but they do source other varieties from local growers including chambourcin, montepulciano and syrah, which is made into a refreshing rosé. The Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Rosé is available in 375ml bottles – perfect for summer picnics.
Our pick
The estate-grown pinot gris is rich and opulent in style – reminiscent of the classic Alsace wines.
