Setting
A solid concrete gatepost and gnarled old vines trained low to the ground lead you to the tiny tasting room. Two inviting leather armchairs stand guard at the front door. Just be careful not to trip over one of the roving chickens as you take a seat.
Things To Know
At 30 years old, the vineyard might be ageing, but owners Lance and Bridie Redgwell are a young couple steering this block to new heights, with a particular commitment to biodynamics. Lance also creates a series of experimental wines in styles very much on the fringe. While you are there, you can snack on superb local and French cheeses, artisan charcuterie, sardines and fresh breads.
Our Picks
Dovetail, a blend of syrah and pinot noir, is smooth and Plush, while the Petillant Naturel is a blend of grüner veltliner, riesling, sauvignon blanc and pinot gris.
Plus
Lance has toys including a spherical stainless-steel fermenter and a ceramic egg-shaped version. But your kids may prefer the normal toys in the box on the veranda.
