Setting
There is something majestic about Kahurangi Estate. Maybe it is the medieval-style architecture, or the solidity of the building itself. You can’t help but be impressed, especially with the large cellar door that opens out onto a sheltered courtyard. Alongside the tasting room where you’ll be sampling the home wines is a cellar with a tempting range of imported wines from Spain, Italy, France and Australia.
Things To Know
While Kahurangi Estate was bought by Greg and Amanda Day in 1998, some of the vines here date back to the 1970s – the riesling vines are reported to be the oldest in the South Island.
Our Pick
Given the age of the vines, it is no surprise that the Mt Arthur Reserve Riesling is a must-try.
