Kina Cliffs Vineyard

Setting
The view from Kina Cliffs is one you don’t want to miss. Standing on the deck, you have a 180-degree vista of Tasman Bay as it heads out into the Tasman Sea. To your right is Nelson city; to the left is Abel Tasman National Park. If you can drag yourself away from the view, you will find a simple, stylish tasting room, where owners Julie and Alistair Ashcroft will guide you through their range of wines.

Things To Know
Both Julie and Alistair come from farming backgrounds, but it wasn’t until 2000 that they found a property – an old apple orchard – they wanted to call their own. Four years later they planted out 8500 vines, concentrating on sauvignon blanc and pinot noir. Since then, they have also added pinot gris to their repertoire.

Our Pick
The clay gravel subsoil and the north-facing slopes where the pinot noir is grown mean you are in for a treat with this variety, especially the Reserve.
