Setting
This corner of Mangawhai country in the Brynderwyn Range is filling up with olive groves and vineyards – it looks a bit like a Kiwi version of Tuscany. From the King Rd a short drive on the metal road will get you to this small family-run vineyard, established by Jennimay and Ross Millar in 2005.
Things to know
The band rotunda by the vineyard is an ideal spot for wedding and other events, and the Millars hold small concerts over summer, mainly for local charities. The wines produced include syrah, rosé, gewurtztraminer and viognier.
Our picks
The richly textured viognier is smooth and fragrant, while the beautifully scented syrah shows mouth-filling richness with a lengthy succulent finish.
