Salvare Estate

Setting
If the cute red shed at the orchard end of Ngatarawa Rd doesn’t catch your attention, the classic old black 1958 Morris Oxford Traveller parked outside certainly will. The shed might look small from the outside, but rest assured, there’s enough room to do a cartwheel inside (there’s photographic evidence to prove it). No matter what the weather, there’s a warm welcome waiting for you, and if it’s sunny then there’s a good chance that owner Steve Nathan and his faithful Labrador Zoe will conduct a personalised wine tasting outside at your table.

Things to know
There’s a little bit of everything here, with wines expertly crafted by Elise Montgomery, who has produced a gold medal-winning chardonnay as well as an unoaked version off the home block, a viognier from grapes grown at Puketapu, and a syrah, merlot and merlot rosé from grapes grown in Gimblett Gravels.

For wines designed to reach their full potential in the cellar, try the Salvation Series.

Plus
Don’t rush away without enjoying in a Taste of Hawke’s Bay platter, and there’s also a toybox to keep the kids amused.
