Te Kairanga

Setting
Te Kairanga sits on the site of the first Martinborough vines planted (more than 50 years ago). The rustic, inviting surroundings and intimate auditorium of the tasting cottage make it one of the most-visited cellar doors in the region. The ‘home’ vineyards and winery are located on the site of the original estate of the founder of Martinborough, John Martin. Enjoy the gorgeous, leafy surrounding area with a picnic, book a hamper or purchase deli-style snacks on site.

Things To Know
Now part of the Foley Family Wines stable, Te Kairanga (or “TK” as the locals know it) was established more than 20 years ago and is one of the region’s early pioneering wineries. In 2012, John Kavanagh took the reigns as chief winemaker and he’s fine-tuned the wines to reflect the individual terroirs of their sites.

Our Picks
The John Martin and Runholder pinot noirs are superb, and Te Kairanga has a strong reputation for chardonnay.

Plus
Te Kairanga are hosts to the Wharekauhau Wine & Food Society Farmers’ Market on the first Sunday of every month from November to Easter weekend.
