Aurum Wines

Setting
A wooden cottage houses Aurum’s tasting room. Joan and Tony Lawrence planted vines in 1997 and now their son Brook looks after the vineyards, while daughter-in-law Lucie makes the wines in the adjoining winery. Lucie is French and brings a European touch to her wines. Aurum’s reserve pinot noirs, named after Brook and Lucie’s daughters, Mathilde and Madeleine, are particularly elegant expressions.

Things To Know
Lucie is a whizz with pinot gris, making not only an intense, off-dry style oozing quince and mandarin peel, but also a sparkling blanc de blancs, an unusual Amber Wine, a botrytised pinot gris, and even Port Molyneux, a fortified white port style.

Our Picks
Try the various expressions of pinot gris. The 2012 pinot noirs are particularly fine.

Plus
Aurum also sells olive oil made from its own trees.
