Mahi Wines

Setting
The cellar door and winery is nestled up against a stone cliff, with the barrel hall actually burrowed within the rock. Massive timber posts and lots of open space welcome you inside, with windows looking out over the home block of vines.

Things To Know
Mahi means “our work, our craft” in Maori. All the single-vineyard fruit is hand-picked, sorted and whole cluster pressed, prior to being fermented with the natural yeast that comes in with the fruit. It is very much a case of letting the vineyard tell the story through the wine, with winemaker Brian Bicknell adopting a hands-off attitude.

Our Picks
Ward Farm Pinot Noir is sourced from a single vineyard in Ward, close to the sea, and is one of Marlborough’s most southern pinot noirs – it’s intense in colour with a great depth of palate. Also try the complex Alchemy Chardonnay.
