Squawking Magpie The Gravels Syrah 2016 (Hawke’s Bay)
This quality Gimblett Gravels label is closing in on its 20th vintage. This new release is a floral-scented charmer. Bright red fruit notes come through on the palate, as do attractive, warm tannins – “sincere tannins”, noted John Belsham. Oak has been judiciously applied and is already nicely integrated.
