Transformed in the 1990s from a lean, mean type of Champagne into something much more friendly by the late Daniel Thibault, Piper’s red labelled non-vintage remains a great buy. Herbal, lemon, strawberry and bakery aromas, a lovely fleshy palate, and a mouth-watering sustained aftertaste add up to easy enjoyment.
