d’Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz 2012

d’Arenberg’s Footbolt is traditional in the best sense, relying on generations of experience, but not completely ignoring modernity. Raspberry and blackberry aromas have a lightly peppery overlay, as well as a thread of old oak complexity. It’s earthy and honest, perhaps a shade over-extracted and angular in tannins, but with lots of personality and potential.
