Esk Valley Winemakers Reserve Syrah 2013

Esk Valley Winemakers Reserve Syrah 2013

Incredibly deep colour heralds a rather raw, unevolved syrah. The nose is redolent of violets, slightly raisiny syrah fruit, black pepper and toasty oak. There’s lots of inky extract, although it’s not quite over-the-top, and in the mouth there’s good concentration. The finish is slightly bitter at the moment, but time in bottle should help it lose some of its edgy feel. A single vineyard Gimblett Gravels syrah of real potential.
