Lake Chalice Hawke’s Bay Syrah

Lake Chalice winemakers are based in Marlborough, but they also have a thing for Hawke’s Bay syrah. A good match for a cassoulet, this gamey young syrah offers some funky complexity to go with plum, berry, pepper and lifted oak aromas. Meaty and full, it’s a wine of concentration and firmness that needs hearty food to show at its best.
