Langmeil Hallowed Ground Shiraz 2018 (Barossa)

Langmeil Hallowed Ground Shiraz 2018 (Barossa)

The latest release of Langmeil’s upper- tier Barossa village-blend shiraz is a very polished, very Barossa wine. The nose serves up red and black fruit as expected, but it is interwoven with lifted floral/violet notes, smoky coffee aromas and subtle hints of green peppercorn. Jo Gear loved the plush, polished and modern tannins, while Ben Glover remarked about its crafted elegant palate with well-buffered firmness and an iron-rich, stony tannic structure to hold up all of the juicy fruit. It is a classically constructed shiraz that does not hide its root, although Langmeil always shows restraint in its wines to avoid them being jammy. This is a safe bet to lay down for 5-8 years if you want some time for the tannins to smoothen. (A)
