Mills Reef Winery Reserve Syrah Gimblett Gravels Hawke’s Bay 2013

Vanillin oak exerts a powerful influence on this syrah from the Gimblett Gravels, Hawke’s Bay’s most highly prized district. However, the wood isn’t overwhelming – the blackberry jammy heart of the wine still shines through. The palate is big and smooth with sumptuous fruit and rather butch tannins in support. A great partner for rump steak.
