Villa Maria Reserve Merlot 2013

Many winemakers in Australia seem confused by merlot. Not so in New Zealand, where strongly varietal merlots are much more common. Villa Maria’s Reserve is spot on with red floral, fruitcake, leafy and plummy aromas, a supple, richly flavoured palate, and plenty of underlying structure. Merlot with personality.
