Squawking Magpie Stoned Crow Syrah 2019 (Hawke’s Bay)
Another wine from the excellent 2019 vintage for Hawke’s Bay, Stoned Crow is the signature bottling from Squawking and blueberry. The structure is noticeable, featuring grainy, chalky tannins with high- toned acidity, which are very youthful at the moment. Recently bottled, it is still settling down, so should taste more integrated by mid-winter and really hit its stride over the next couple of years. Those who prefer more earthy, spicy, evolved flavours will likely gain enjoyment from opening their bottles in the second half of this decade.
